Does anyone know what actually puts something into federal jurisdiction? That always seems to be an issue in Bones fics.

Here are the things I know of:
-attacking a federal agent
-crossing state lines (doing something illegal)
-tax evasion
-tampering with US mail
(I think) -attacking sometone in the WPP

and really, there are only so many times that someone in the WPP can die or people can cross state lines before it gets redundant.

Also, (and this is pretty subjective) I know Booth is a Catholic and it seems like he's pretty practicing and it makes me wonder how Catholic his family is and therefore, what the liklihood is that he'd have a big family. Thoughts?

Hey all,

I'm writing a Booth piece and I'm trying to do a decent job at pinpointing his childhood neighborhood. I don't know the neighborhoods -- can someone who knows Philly point me to a working class/lower middle class neighborhood (that was probably gentrifying in the late 70s) with a fairly large Irish/Italian/Polish Catholic mix?

Thanks!

The question of how long Booth has been with the FBI has always confused me. He's a SAC which means he hasn't fallen off the turnip truck the day before the series started. What is Booth in charge of, other then following Brennan around, that merits his own office? Also, when the heck was he in Kosovo? The latest he could've plausibly been there is early 1999, and seven years seems a bit hinky when it comes to becoming a SAC (not pronounced "sack", mind you!), since you've got a couple weeks at the Academy, and then three years as a probationary agent, as far as I can remember. Also, what do we know about his military career, overall? I'm guessing from 1x15 that he was most likely in the Gulf War (and if we hold Booth to be David's age it's very possible.) Of course, I totally suck at noticing details unless they're beating me over the head. Anyways, go nuts, offer your best guesses and have fun. (Also, a fact for those not in the know - DC actually has its own field office, separate from the HQ.)

I'm another new member. I've lived all my life in northern Virginia suburbs and work in DC. So if ever you want to send Bones, Booth and team into the foreign land of Virginia, I'll be glad to help. I'm also pretty familiar with the Metro & other public transportation in the area.

Hi, I'm a new member and I just wanted to post that my mom gave me a guidebook about DC (she's heavily into guidebooks) and so I can find out about a lot of hotels and restaurants and stuff. But it's all real places. And stuff.

Are you confused by the D.C. streets? - Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority's short guide to DC Streets. The main WMATA site is also quite useful if you're writing about something going on in the DC area, as it has the Trip Planner, where you can find out what Metro trains or buses you would need to get from one location to another.
